Dadaism
Hugo Ball , Emmy Hennings , Tristan Tzara , Richard Huelsenbeck , Marcel Janco and Hans Arp found the artistic and literary movement of Dadaism in Zurich . Dada is characterized by the rejection of “conventional” art or art forms and bourgeois ideals. The Dada gave considerable impulses to the art of the modern up to today's contemporary art .

- The Röhm portal building is built by the architect Karl Klee.

- January 17 : The art exhibition 0.10 of the Suprematists , which opened on December 19 of the previous year in the Dobychina Petrograd Gallery, ends.
- March: With the Liljevalchs Konsthall on Djurgården in Stockholm, built by architect Carl Bergsten , Sweden's first independent exhibition space for contemporary art opens.
