Ernst Wille (painter)
Ernst Wille (born September 28, 1916 in Werne , Westphalia, † April 2, 2005 in Cologne ) was a German painter .
Life
At his father's insistence, he had to complete an apprenticeship as a painter in Waldbröl before receiving a scholarship for the Cologne factory schools in 1936, where he studied until 1940. He visited u. a. the sculpting class of Wolfgang Wallner .
Wille started painting and drawing at an early age. His first impulses came from studying the works of great painters such as Michelangelo and Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez . He was appointed professor at the Werkkunstschule Aachen . Since 1964 he lived in Cologne-Poll. On May 26, 1997 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
His grave is on the Deutz cemetery in Cologne (hall 35a no. 23/24).
