Hashiguchi: In the bathroom
  • The publisher and art dealer Watanabe Shōzaburō coined the term Shin-hanga for the modern form of Japanese woodcut . The first Shin-hanga in the bathroom comes from Hashiguchi Goyō . At the same time, the Sōsaku-hanga , another form of woodcut , in which the artist carries out all three work steps (drawing, carving, printing) himself, is flourishing . Several artists in this direction jointly publish the magazine Tsukuhae .
