Rock paintings with a white lady

• January 4th : The explorer Reinhard Maack discovers the rock carving of the White Lady, which is at least 2000 years old , in the Tsisab gorge of the Brandberg massif in Namibia . The drawing is probably a warrior.

• Amedeo Modigliani paints the painting L'Homme assis ( Seated man with a stick ) in oil on canvas . The portrait most likely shows Georges Ménier, owner of the Menier chocolate factory .

Artists' associations, museums and exhibitions

• January 16 : The Dresden Artists' Association The guild dissolves 13 years after it was founded, after the association's activities continued to decline during the war years.

Catalog for Miró's first solo exhibition

• In February, Joan Miró's first solo exhibition will take place in the Galerías Dalmau in Barcelona , which will include 60 landscape paintings and still lifes . In the same year he and other artists founded the group Courbet (Agrupació Courbet), named after Gustave Courbet , whose radicalism they admire.
• December 3 : The painters Max Pechstein and César Klein and twelve other artists found the revolutionary November group in Berlin .
