Carl Helmut Steckner
Carl Helmut Steckner (born March 30, 1916 in Halle (Saale) ; † November 14, 2003 in Hamburg ) was a German painter, photographer, journalist and regional researcher.
Life
The business graduate trained at the University of Cologne was destined to take over the industrial textile company Steckner, which is based in Halle and Hamburg and operates internationally. His artistic interests made him a student of Charles Crodel at Burg Giebichenstein and assistant at the Berlin Building Academy . He created wall and glass paintings (including St. Martin in Muffendorf and St. Bonifatius in Fulda- Horas ), took photos for his publications and illustrated books (including Herbert Hoffmann / Vera v. Claer: Antiker Gold- und Silberschmuck (1986)); His main focus was on researching the history of the Ortenau district and the Hanauerland in its Strasbourg context. To this end, he translated Gaul in 1979 . Life and Culture in Roman Times by Paul-Marie Duval for Reclam and published cultural-historical book chapters as well as essays and others. a. in the magazine Die Ortenau . He was involved in the preservation of monuments, was involved in the museums of Strasbourg and in building the Museum Breisach and the city museum of the fortress town of Kehl , which he explored , the fortress Kehl .
Steckner family
The Steckners were a merchant and banker family resident in Müelte ( Steckner house from 1750), Leipzig ( Steckner-Passage Petersstrasse / Thomasgasse) and in Halle (Saale) . (Bank building of the Deutsche Bank on the market, formerly Reinhold Steckner) The merchant family owned "Steckners Weinberg", today Steinmeister-Weinberg near Naumburg (Saale) . “Steckner's Berg” near Merseburg also reminds of the family.
Paintings (also from Carl Helmut Steckner's art-historically significant architectural parts from the city of Halle) in the Moritzburg (Halle) and in the Halle city museum have been preserved by the family's foundations . The Stecknerweg is also one of the family foundations.
