Phil Lewis was the singer of the group, Phil Collen was one of the two guitarists . Other members were Gerry Laffy (guitar), Simon Laffy ( bass ) and Dave Gaynor ( drums ).

The band got a record deal with Jet Records , the record company of Don Arden . The group released two singles before their debut album Sheer Greed came out, which included a cover version of Kiss's song Do You Love Me . Sheer Greed reached number 33 on the UK album charts. The band accompanied the tours of Pat Travers and UFO as an opening act and was able to expand their level of awareness. In April 1980, their single Hollywood Tease reached number 50 in the UK singles chart.

In 1981 Dave Gaynor left the band and was replaced by Pete Barnacle (formerly Gillan ). The album Wasted Youth recorded with him reached number 77 on the British album charts. Shortly after the release, Phil Collen left the band and switched to Def Leppard , where he replaced the killed guitarist Pete Willis. Pete Bonas became the new guitarist for Girl, but the band broke up shortly after the change.

Phil Lewis joined The London Cowboys , then Airrace, and became the LA Guns vocalist in 1987 .

Gerry Laffy, Simon Laffy and Pete Barnacle continued to play as Sheer Greed ; occasionally Collen and Lewis also joined as guests at individual appearances.

Collen and Simon Laffy currently form the trio Man Raze with Paul Cook ( Sex Pistols ) , but Collen is still guitarist for Def Leppard. Man Raze's debut album, Surreal , was released in 2007, and in July 2011 the band released their second album entitled punk funk roots rock .
