Girolamo Ramorino (born April 8, 1792 in Genoa , † May 22, 1849 in Turin ) was an Italian general .

At a young age he fought in the Napoleonic Wars under Napoleon against Austria in 1809 and in Russia in 1812 . During the reign of the Hundred Days , he was appointed a law enforcement officer. After the French defeat, he returned to Piedmont in 1815 and took part in the Piedmont uprising in 1821 .

In 1830, after the November uprising, he supported the Poles against Russia and was first leader of a brigade in the ensuing War of Independence, then from 13 June 1831 commander of an independent Polish corps of 16,000 men and 4,000 riders. In March 1849 he was supposed to prevent Austrian troops from crossing the Gravellona area , but neglected this important measure and pushed ahead without orders on the right bank of the Po in order to lure the enemy to Voghera . Soon after, he was in consequence of the battle of Novara of insubordination accused the Piedmont to the defeat in the war against Austria led. It was after a quick court martial on 22 May 1849 war legally shot in the execution he could command at the request own firing squad.
