Girolamo da Cremona , also known as Girolamo de 'Corradi (* in the first half of the 15th century; † after 1483), was an Italian illuminator of the Renaissance who illuminated manuscripts and incunabula.
biography
Girolamo da Cremona was an Italian miniaturist of manuscripts and incunabula during the Renaissance . It was influenced and promoted by Andrea Mantegna .
From 1450 to 1465 he worked in northern Italy, in Ferrara and Mantua , then in Siena and Florence and finally in Venice . He was initially an assistant to the painter and miniaturist Taddeo Crivelli in Ferrara and was influenced and promoted by Andrea Mantegna .
In 1465, on behalf of Barbara von Brandenburg, Margravine of Mantua, he completed a missal known as the Margravine, a work that Belbello da Pavia began in 1442 on the initiative of Gianlucido Gonzaga . It is now in the Diocesan Museum in Mantua.
Between 1467 and 1475 he worked for Liberale da Verona to illuminate the antiphonals of the Piccolomini library , which are preserved in the cathedral of Siena .
