Remo Girone

Remo Girone (born December 1, 1948 in Asmara , Eritrea ) is an Italian theater and film actor .

Life

Remo Girone is the son of Italian parents who emigrated to the former Italian colony of Eritrea. As a toddler, he was drawn to acting. In 1957, an Eritrean newspaper prophesied that Remo Girone, who was then nine years old, would one day become a great actor. At the age of 13 he came to Rome to attend a high school. After graduating from high school, he began to study economics, which he broke off in favor of studying drama at the Accademia nazionale d'arte drammatica Silvio D'Amico .

He made his film debut in 1972 in the feature film Roma rivuole Cesare . However, TV productions made Girone, who also worked as a theater actor, popular. The role of the unscrupulous Mafioso Tano Cariddi in several seasons of the successful Mafia series Alone Against the Mafia (La Piovra) made Remo Girone known in German-speaking countries. In the two-part TV series God's mighty servant , which was broadcast on ARD in April 2011 , he played alongside leading actress Christine Neubauer the role of the controversial Pope Pius XII.

Remo Girone is married to Victoria Zinny and is the stepfather of Karl and Veronica Zinny .
