Princess Fantaghirò IV

Princess Fantaghirò V is the fifth and final part of the Fantaghirò series from 1996. Again Lamberto Bava took over the direction and Alessandra Martines took over the leading role. The film was originally broadcast on television as a two-part series. Fans criticized that the ending was disappointing and did not do the series justice. With Alessandra Martines and Brigitte Nielsen, only two actors from the previous films have a role.

action

After all wars and battles were over and the evil seemed finally defeated, Fantaghirò rode through her kingdom to recover from all hardships. Unsuspecting that her most crucial adventure was still ahead of her. While she is picking flowers on the brightly colored meadow, her horse Goldmane is in danger. She tries to save it and is captured by five unknown robbers herself. She ends up in a somber dwelling and meets the one who ordered the attack on her - the black witch who fears for her dark magical powers, since she has become so good through her willingness to help Fantaghirò that she has only one way out sees how to regain her old evil powers. She has to perform a particularly malicious act and reveals to Fantaghirò that she wants to execute her the next morning. In the witch's dungeon, she meets a strange man with a face made of fruits. He tells her about a peaceful world in which no weapons are used and wars are waged - the world of elsewhere. There lives the good witch Asteria, who prophesies that soon people will no longer eat their food, but vice versa. Nobody believes her, not even Masala, who also lives in this world with his mother and little sister Ezela. Looking for adventure in his boring world, the brave boy discovers the armory where all the weapons from elsewhere are hidden so that they will never be used again. When he leaves the cave with a sword he meets a mysterious stranger, Aries, who teaches the boy how to fight and is taken prisoner for it. Shortly afterwards, people are surprised by a violent storm. In the sky a huge ship flies through the clouds and suddenly strange knights appeared who, like the fellow prisoner of Fantaghirò, have a face made of fruits. You kidnap the world's parents while the children, including Masala, Ezela and their best friend Sarsut, can hide in the armory with Asteria. There they hope for help from the desired plant. She fulfills the children's wishes by reading their minds and letting them pluck out a sheet of paper. In the search for the perfect warrior who should save the people of the elsewhere world, she finally finds it. Meanwhile, the black witch is about to behead Fantaghirò with an ax. But before she can do this, Fantaghirò is taken from the desired plant and disappears. The witch is robbed of her hostage and Fantaghirò is saved and arrives in the elsewhere world. There Asteria explains how to get there and why her help is urgently needed.

At the same time, the strange Aries tries to free the prisoners from the previously flying ship and himself becomes a prisoner of the dreaded Nameless One. He tries to lure the children of the world to his galleon, but it doesn't work. So he tries to attract the children by letting three of the world's fathers and Aries hang on the gallows. But this can be prevented by Fantaghirò and the four doomed can be set free.

Once back in the armory, Fantaghirò learns her bitter fate from Asteria - she will never be able to return to her old world, since the dream plant that she saved from the black witch is the last of her kind and has already used up all of its leaves. However, it seems that new leaves cannot grow back. Totally desperate about their situation, Fantaghirò loses all courage and willingness to fight to fight the nameless one and his army.

In the meantime, Masala learns from the rescued Aries that he saw and spoke to his mother on the galleon. Masala secretly sneaks up there and ends up in the cabin of the nameless man, who notices the presence of the boy because he can smell him; he wants to eat the children of the elsewhere world and notices the scent of masala. He can literally lead the bad man by the nose, but is ultimately discovered and caught by him anyway.

To relieve Fantaghirò from her homesickness so that she can fight better, Asteria casts a spell and leaves her memory suckers on Fantaghirò's head. The queen does not lose her memory as a result, but afterwards she can no longer remember the feelings she felt for people from her past.

Strengthened by the magic, Fantaghirò finally goes to the galleon to confront the nameless and free the prisoners. She is well known to the nameless because of her good deeds and is captured by him. She learns from him why he entered the peaceful world and wants to have the children; the nameless was created by hundreds of witches and sorcerers to end a long war, but brought death to the enemy and also to those who created him. It was created from an Appalicander tree and is therefore made of wood. However, he would like to become a real person of flesh and blood and then give himself a name. This transformation, however, can only be brought about by young children eating fresh meat. He wants to get rid of the annoying Fantaghirò and stab her with a dagger, but this brings him down and can escape with masala.

Meanwhile, Asteria transforms into a good-looking woman from Fantaghirò's past, in order to finally release her crush, the warlike Gurdalak, from his petrification. But he is also not interested in the new beauty of Asteria, who has assumed the shape of the black witch, but flees and offers the nameless his services. He succeeds in kidnapping the children and getting them onto the galleon. Asteria reports to Fantaghirò and Aries about the attack and undoes the spell that took Fantaghirò's feelings back before she is captured by Gurdalak's army. Fantaghirò, who fell in love with Aries when he consoled Ezela over the death of her mother, wakes up and wants to tell Aries if she wants to stay with him. But before she can do this, they are attacked by Gurdalak and his army. While Aries fights Gurdalak in a duel, Fantaghirò sets off for the galleon. Almost all the Knights of the Nameless have now been defeated there after the ruler himself went in search of Ezela, who fled from him. Asteria and Masala are able to free the remaining prisoners, while Aries defeats Gurdalak by pushing him into the water. Since Gurdalak is made of metal, he goes under and drowns. In the meantime Fantaghirò follows Ezela's cries for help, which the nameless one caught up with. She arrives at the old mill, where she finds Ezela tied up. The nameless one attacks Fantaghirò after trying in vain to defeat the nameless one with fire, but the wood from which he is made is not combustible. Finally Fantaghirò falls and is almost killed by the nameless one with an ax, but can get up again and holds a broken chair leg to the body of the nameless one. He scratches himself and turns away from Fantaghirò and Ezela, there were woodworms in the chair leg, which are now biting through the body of the nameless. Fantaghirò frees Ezela and escapes into the village while the nameless man is completely eaten by the woodworms. Evil is defeated and everyone has a great festival. Ezela, who planted her dream plant again some time ago, wants to surprise Fantaghirò because the leaves have actually grown back and she can now go back to her old world. But Fantaghirò has already come to terms with her fate and wants to be happy with Aries and start a new life. Ezela watches the kiss between the two and throws the dream plant away before Fantaghirò could see it.
