Pilgrimage chapel
The Girsterklause , consecrated to the Assumption of Mary, was first mentioned on February 27, 1329. The place existed before, however, because the tower of the pilgrimage chapel is of Romanesque origin and thus dates from the 11th or 12th century. Already at that time the hermitage was a place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary. The goal of the pilgrimage is the "Mother of God of the Hieselterheck", a small figure of the Mother of God who is depicted sitting and which dates from the 13th century. She is one of the few figures that have survived from this period.
