Gisela Wurm (born July 31, 1957 in Wörgl ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician ( SPÖ ). In 1994 and from 1996 to 2017 she was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Gisela Wurm attended primary school in Stumm in the Zillertal between 1963 and 1967 and then graduated from secondary school in Zell am Ziller . After the polytechnic course (1971/72) Wurm began an apprenticeship as a watchmaker in Karlstein an der Thaya , which she completed in 1976. She then worked as a watchmaker until 1981 and from 1981 attended the commercial academy for professionals in Innsbruck . After graduating from high school in 1986, Wurm worked as the state secretary of the young generation of the SPÖ Tyrol until 1987 and then worked as the regional women’s manager of the SPÖ Tyrol until 1996. At the same time, Wurm began studying law in 1990, which she obtained in 1996 with the title Mag. Iur. completed. Between 1997 and 1998 she completed her legal internship at the Innsbruck Regional Court .

Political career

Gisela Wurm holds numerous internal party functions. Since 2000, she has been the district chairwoman of the SPÖ Innsbruck-Stadt, deputy chairwoman of the city party, a member of the federal women's committee and a member of the federal party executive. Since 2002 she has also been a member of the Federal Party Presidium of the SPÖ and Deputy State Party Chairwoman and, since 2006, the regional women’s chairwoman of the SPÖ Tirol.

Wurm was a member of the National Council for the first time between June 13 and November 6, 1994, and from January 15, 1996 to November 8, 2017 he represented the SPÖ in parliament. She held a mandate from the Tyrol State List and was in the XXV. Legislative period Chairman of the Equal Treatment Committee and member of the Foreign Policy, Justice and Culture committees. Since 2002 she has been deputy club chairman of the Social Democratic parliamentary group.
