Giselher von Warneck , also Giselbert von Warneck (* before 1725; † 1754 in Bremen ) was a German engineer and architect .

biography

Warneck was employed as an engineer-captain in the Electorate of Hanover . In 1725 he was employed as an engineer in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and in 1730, as "captain", he became head of the city's (civil and military) engineering. A large number of drawings by him have come down to us, including of fortresses, buildings, wells, equipment and technical systems. As an architect, from 1734 to 1736 he was in charge of the extension of the Alte Börse on the Unser-Lieben-Frauen-Kirchhof square and built the Buntentor in 1737. The basement of the Old Stock Exchange was built in 1687 in the Baroque style according to plans by the Parisian architect Jean Baptiste Broëbes . Warneck retired in 1754 and died shortly afterwards.
