Gitanes Blondes (French) is a German music group from Munich , which is mainly dedicated to the musical styles of Klezmer , Balkan Folk and Jazz . The group includes the native Croat Mario Korunic ( violin ), Konstantin Ischenko ( accordion ) from Chelyabinsk , Russia, and Christoph Peters ( guitar ) and Simon Ackermann ( double bass ), both of whom are from Munich. All four musicians studied at renowned training centers for classical music. The name (German: Blonde Gypsies ) refers to the unusual constellation of Central Europeans playing Balkan music.

history

The band, founded by Korunic in 1999, played at the Safed Klezmer Festival in Israel , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Rheingau Music Festival , at Sternstunden in the Allerheiligen-Hofkirche Munich, the Chiemgauer Musikfrühling , at the Tollwood Festival Munich , the promenade concerts Timmendorfer Strand , im Gasteig Munich, at the Evangelical Church Congress in Dresden 2011 and the Walkenried cloister concerts .

On the cruise ship Europa in 2010 there was an encounter with the "King of Klezmer" Giora Feidman . This concert tour included a joint appearance by the Gitanes Blondes with the Argentine clarinetist . Feidman was enthusiastic and has since performed with the four guys from Munich, including at the Festival 28 Years Songs on a summer evening at Banz Monastery. The ensemble and the soloist completed a tour of Germany in 2012. In the same year, the joint CD Giora Feidman & Gitanes Blondes “Very Klezmer” was released .
