The Gitschen is a mountain peak in the Uri Alps . It is located in the Swiss canton of Uri , west of Seedorf on a north-east running ridge of the Uri Rotstock with the Rot Gitschen .
Despite its relatively low height of 2513 m above sea level. M. and little independence (it only protrudes 70 meters above the deepest point of the ridge), it stands markedly over 2000 meters above the Urner Reuss level . The Gitschital lies south-east of the mountain range and below the rock structure on the east side with the pre-summits of Wiss Horn and Gross Horn is Alp Gitschenberg, which is accessible from Seedorf with a cable car.
From the north it can be seen from afar - together with Brunnistock , Uri Rotstock and Schlieren - over Lake Uri.
Two mountain trails lead from the Isenthaler Chlital from the northwest and west over partially exposed routes to the ridge south of the summit and from there together to the highest point.
