Giuffria is an American rock band from the 1980s. Their style is assigned to Adult Oriented Rock (AOR).
history
The AOR band was founded in the early 1980s by keyboardist Gregg Giuffria , who was a musician in the American rock band Angel in the 1970s . Other band musicians were singer David Glen Eisley , bassist Chuck Wright, drummer Alan Krigger and guitarist Craig Goldy .
In 1984, the band received a recording contract with the label MCA Records , the same year the first, self-titled album was released. This climbed to position 26 on the US album charts and the first single Call To The Heart reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 . The band achieved another chart success in 1985 with the song Lonely in Love . As a result, Giuffria appeared in the opening act for big rock bands such as Deep Purple and Foreigner and toured Japan.
Craig Goldy and Chuck Wright left the band, they were replaced by Lanny Cordola and David Sikes. In 1986 the band's second album was released under the title Silk & Steel . Although it reached number 60 on the album charts and the first single I Must Be Dreaming (a cover version of the Mink DeVille song) was able to position itself at number 52 on the Hot 100, the record company MCA canceled the record deal.
Shortly afterwards the band broke up and Gregg Giuffria founded the hard rock band House of Lords with Lanny Cordola (gt.) And Chuck Wright (bs.) Under the direction of Kiss musician Gene Simmons .
