Giulio Calì

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Giulio Calì (actually Giulio Ferrantini ; born March 26, 1895 in Rome , † January 20, 1967 ibid) was an Italian actor .

Life

Calì had his apprenticeship at the Roman dialect theater and at the Avanspettacolo, where he played what he was with passion and commitment throughout his life: the Roman capital inhabitant, communicative, lively, talkative and gestural. He made his film debut in 1927 in Umberto Paradisi's Un balilla del '48 and, even after the Second World War, played his mostly unnamed roles as porter, clerk, usher, notary, paralegal, corporal, bar visitor or owner in numerous films of various genres and quality. Thanks to Alberto Lattuada , Calì was able to escape anonymity several times; the Milanese director used him in his works Die Mühle am Po (1949) and Der Mantel in more substantial roles. Other well-known game masters, under whom Calì worked, were Steno , Mario Monicelli , Alessandro Blasetti , Mario Mattòli , Luigi Zampa and Luigi Comencini .
