Giuseppe Massari

Giuseppe Massari (* 1821 in Bari ; † May 12, 1884 in Turin ) was an Italian politician and writer.

Life

In 1848 Massari was active during the political events in southern Italy and Naples and therefore had to go into exile ( Tuscany ). From there he later went to Turin ( Piedmont ), where he worked for some time as editor of the newspapers Rivista contemporanea and Gazzetta ufficiale Piemontese . In 1860 he was elected member of parliament, where he made a name for himself as a secretary and as an expert speaker.

He edited Vincenzo Gioberti's correspondence and posthumous works as well as Cavour's parliamentary speeches, as well as memorial speeches on Giovanni Lanza , Bettino Ricasoli , Massimo d'Azeglio and Vincenzo Gioberti .

Giuseppe Massari died in Turin on May 12, 1884 at the age of about 63 and was honored with a state funeral in accordance with a parliamentary resolution.
