Giuseppe Siboni (born January 27, 1780 in Forlì , Italy , † March 28, 1839 in Copenhagen ) was an Italian-Danish tenor, singing teacher and founder of the Copenhagen Music Academy.

Life

Siboni made his debut in Florence in 1797 and appeared on several Italian stages. From 1800 to 1805 he had an engagement at the Estates Theater in Prague and at the end of 1805 went to La Scala in Milan . Between 1806 and 1809 appearances in London and Ireland followed . After another year at La Scala in Milan, he worked at the Vienna Court Opera between 1810 and 1814, then at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples until 1817 . He was the chamber virtuoso of the Duchess Marie Louise of Parma . In 1819 he was invited to Prince Christian VIII of Denmark in 1819 as a royal singing teacher in Copenhagen. In Copenhagen he held the post of master and director of the royal singing school of the court theater and received Danish citizenship. In 1823 he was appointed the king's chamber singer and founded the first music academy in 1826. a. Hans Christian Andersen took lessons from 1821.

The singer Johanne Luise Heiberg was one of Siboni's most famous students .

family

Sibboni had a daughter, Josepha Moisa Franciska Romalia Anna Maria, called "Peppina" (born February 6, 1806 in Milan , † December 25, 1866 in Copenhagen), who became a remarkable pianist. In 1824 she married the Copenhagen merchant and banker Ferdinand Tutein (1788–1880). Clara Schumann dedicated the first edition of her Scherzo in C minor op. 14 (1845) to her.
