Stefano Doglioni

Stefano Doglioni (* 1986 in Feltre ) is an Italian modern jazz musician ( bass clarinet ) .

Doglioni began playing the clarinet at the age of nine; In 2004 he decided to play the bass clarinet. After studying at the Bologna Conservatory, from which he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Jazz Music, he first moved to the Netherlands, where he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He has lived in New York City since 2011, worked in the jazz scene there and studied at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music for a year . His mentors have included Barry Harris , Charles Davis , Chris Byars , John Ruocco, and Barend Middelhoff . Doglioni has since performed in Europe and the United States; in the course of his career so far he has played a. a. with Freddie Redd , Frans Elsen , Charles Davis, Ari Roland , Sacha Perry , John Mosca , Luigi Grasso , Pasquale Grasso , Zaid Nasser , Keith Balla , Alex Hoffman , William Ash , Neal Miner , Tardo Hammer , Billy Drummond , Grant Stewart and Murray Wall .

Tom Lord recorded six recording sessions in the field of Jazz Doglionis between 2013 and 2016; he can be heard mainly on albums by the groups of Chris Byars and Jamale Davis, for whom he also composed, but also with Luigi Grasso, Freddie Redd, Bartolomeo Barenghi and Ettore Martin. He is currently (2019) leading a trio with bassist Ari Roland and drummer Keith Balla.
