The Glaser-Dirks DG-800 is a single-seat high-performance glider with a wingspan of 15 or 18 m . It is also manufactured by the manufacturer DG Flugzeugbau GmbH in Bruchsal in motorized versions for self-launch . The “DG-808C” variant of the DG-808 is known as a self-launching motor glider thanks to its “DEI-NT” motor control system, which largely relieves the pilot of operating the engine.
It was developed after the molds of the predecessor model Glaser-Dirks DG-600 were badly damaged in a fire in the Glaser-Dirks factory . The first version DG-800A first flew on December 6, 1991. The DG-808 is the latest in the DG-800 series. The aircraft is largely made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Mosquito cleaner garages were attached to it for the first time .
Executions
It is offered as a pure glider (DG-808S) or as a self-launching motor glider (DG-808C and DG-808C Competition) with a folding two-stroke engine. It is available with a 15 m or 18 m span and with or without winglets .
