Glasvegas are a four-piece Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow .

Band history

The band was discovered in Glasgow in 2006 by Scottish music expert Alan McGee, who had already signed bands like Oasis and Primal Scream . A first single was released that same year. But it wasn't until the second release, Daddy's Gone , that success came the following year. The single was voted # 2 in the best song of the year by the New Musical Express , and the band won the music magazine's Newcomer Award. They were ranked 4th by the BBC on Sound of 2008 .

After a tour in early 2008 and the release of a third limited single, Glasvegas were finally signed by Columbia Records and released their first real single, Geraldine , which made it into the UK Top 20. This was followed by the debut album named after the band, with which the four Scots went straight to number 2 in the charts.

As part of the 360 ​​° tour of the Irish rock group U2 in 2009 , Glasvegas appeared four times ( Dublin , London , Glasgow and Cardiff ) as the opening act.
