history

During the Roman occupation of Britain , a Roman camp was located along a Roman road on the opposite bank of the Dee. Archaeological studies also show the possibility that the site was already settled in the Bronze Age. At Glenlochar, a weir was built to dam Loch Ken in the 1930s. It is part of a system of hydroelectric power plants, which at the hydroelectric plant Tongland southwest to the nine kilometers Tongland ends.
