Glenn Thompson (born July 27, 1959 in Bellefonte , Center County , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Since January 2009 he has represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Glenn Thompson studied at Pennsylvania State University until 1981 and then at Temple University in Philadelphia until 1988 . He worked as a therapist and therapy manager in Lycoming County for 26 years . He was also a member of the volunteer fire department in his home country. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1990 and 1995 he served on the Bald Eagle Area School District school committee . In 1998 and 2000 he ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania . From 2002 to 2008 he was Republican District Chairman for Center County.

In the 2008 congressional election , Thompson was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded the no longer-running John E. Peterson on January 3, 2009 . As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. He is or was a member of the Agriculture Committee , the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Natural Resources and in five sub-committees. He also belongs or was a member of the Congressional Arts Caucus and the German-American Caucus . He is also a member of the Republican Study Committee .

After the Pennsylvania constituency reorganization, he ran in the 2018 election in the 15th district. He prevailed against the Democrat Susan Boser with 67.9% of the vote. His term of office begins on January 3, 2019 and ends in January 2021.

Glenn Thompson is married with three children. He lives privately in Howard .
