The glacier garden in Lucerne is a natural monument with a park and museum. It was opened on May 1, 1873, the museum building dates back to 1874. Glacier pots and a “millions of years show” transport visitors to times when huge glaciers covered the country or when subtropical palm beaches were found here.

There are changing special exhibitions as well as z. B. old maps and a large landscape relief of the original Switzerland shown. This was made from 1762 to 1786 by the Swiss Franz Ludwig Pfyffer and is considered the oldest such relief in the world.

The institution is supported by the Lucerne Glacier Garden Foundation . Immediately next to the glacier garden are the Bourbaki panorama and the Alpineum .
