Gliese 445 (short: Gl 445 or GJ 445 ), also cataloged as AC + 79 3888 or HIP 57544 , is a red dwarf in the constellation Giraffe, about 17  light years from Earth . With an apparent brightness of 10.84 mag, it can no longer be seen with the naked eye, even under optimal observation conditions.

Voyager 1

As the Voyager 1 spacecraft flies roughly in the direction of Gliese 445, it will reach its closest point of orbit to this red dwarf at 1.6 light years in about 40,000 years. Gliese 445 will be only 3.45 light years away from the Sun at this point, as it is moving towards us at high speed.
