Gobernador Ingeniero Valentín Virasoro , also Gobernador Virasoro or Virasoro for short, is a city in the northeast of the Corrientes province in Argentina . It has been named since 1923 after the politician and engineer Valentin Virasoro, who was governor of the province of Corrientes from 1893 to 1897 .

Virasoro is about 90 kilometers from Posadas , the capital of the province of Misiones , and 65 kilometers from Santo Tomé . The distance to the Brazilian border is around 50 kilometers.

The city is located on Ruta Nacional 14, which is a major traffic axis on Argentina's eastern borders. There is a bus station on the long-distance bus route between Buenos Aires and the Missiones Province.

economy

The region around Virasoro is known for the cultivation of tea and mate . There are also large pine forests that are used for pulp production.
