Gobioides sagitta is a bony fish from the family Oxudercidae within the goby-like (Gobiiformes) that occurs in the coastal region of western Africa.

Distribution and way of life

The distribution area begins at Senegal and extends over all of Upper and Lower Guinea , the islands of the Gulf of Guinea to Pointe-Noire in the Republic of the Congo . Gobioides sagitta inhabits the tidal zone , lagoons , brackish water areas and also goes into river areas that are still influenced by the tides.

features

Gobioides sagitta becomes 40, a maximum of 50 cm long and has a very elongated body with 31 vertebrae and long dorsal and anal fin. In the mouth there are two rows of teeth in the lower jaw and one row of teeth in the upper jaw. The gap in the mouth extends behind the eye. The head and back are colored blue-gray, the underside yellowish-white, the fins gray or white.

The dorsal and anal fin are connected to the caudal fin by a fin membrane. The caudal fin is pointed like an arrow.
