Gode Wind 1 is the name of an offshore wind farm in the German Exclusive Economic Zone in the southern North Sea that went into operation in 2017.

Location of Gode Wind 1 within the wind farm in the German Bight

location

The total area of the wind farm is around 37 km². The area is 33 km north of the island of Norderney and 38 km north of Juist with water depths of 26 to 35 meters.

history

The wind farm was planned by PNE Wind . In August 2012, Dong Energy acquired the rights to the wind farm.

Following the original application made by PNE Wind in 2001, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) granted approval for the construction and operation of 80  wind turbines (WTs) with a total nominal output of maximum 400 MW on August 28, 2006 on the basis of the Marine Plant Ordinance . At the request of PNE Wind , the permit was initially changed on November 22, 2010 to 77 wind turbines with a total nominal output of a maximum of 462 MW.

After Dong Energy took over the project, an application was made on November 9th, 2012 to change the size to the final size of 55 wind turbines with a total nominal output of maximum 440 MW. The final change was approved on July 31, 2013.

In April 2015, construction work began in Gode Wind 1 and in neighboring Gode Wind 2 . The monopile foundations were manufactured in Rostock by the EEW Group and introduced with the help of the innovation . In May 2016, the last wind turbine was installed by A2SEA with the help of the Sea Challenger .

The official inauguration of the wind farm took place on June 27, 2017 in the Danish Embassy in Berlin .

Wind turbines

Originally, 54 Senvion 6.2M126 wind turbines with a nominal output of 6.15 MW and a rotor diameter of 126 meters were to be used. A corresponding contract was signed with the manufacturer in March 2012. In 2013, the new owner Dong Energy decided to reschedule in favor of 55 Siemens SWT-6.0 gearless systems with a nominal output of 6 MW and a rotor diameter of 154 meters.

Network connection

Converter platform DolWin beta in Haugesund , Norway 2014

The wind turbines are connected to a transformer platform in the wind farm via medium-voltage cables , which transforms the three-phase alternating current (three-phase current) from 33  kV to high voltage of 155 kV. From there, the electricity is fed to the DolWin2 offshore HVDC system operated by the transmission system operator Tennet TSO via a submarine cable connection . The Gode Wind II and Nordsee One offshore wind farms are also connected to the DolWin beta converter platform . After conversion to direct current , the transmission takes place over 135 km (45 km of which are submarine cables and 90 km of underground cables ) to the converter station Dörpen / West near Heede (Emsland) .

Due to cable faults , the DolWin 2 HVDC system installed in October 2016 could not go into regular operation until mid-2017.

business

Dong Energy has been using a site in Norddeich as a maintenance and service base since 2015 . Here is the operations control center, built by the construction company Johann Bunte . Due to the expansion in the North Sea, the operations control center is being expanded.
