The first building contract followed in 1902. The Bunte company was commissioned to build a bathing establishment on Papenburg's Deverhaven. In 1904, Buntes son Johann Bunte (1872–1939) took over the company and transformed it into a regional civil engineering company. After his death, his son Rudolf Bunte ran the company.

With the purchase of the “Pirat I” cutter excavator in 1954, the company now got into dredging . The company succeeded in establishing itself throughout Germany. In 1960 the company started building freeways . The breakthrough came with the construction of the Bremen Cross and the cooperation in the construction of the so-called " Hansalinie ", a section of the A1. In 2008, after long discussions, the contract was awarded to build the JadeWeserPort . A year later, the asphalt mixing plants in Kampe , Papenburg and Emsbüren were modernized and record sales of over half a billion euros were achieved.
