The gold boletus or golden yellow larch boletus ( Suillus grevillei , syn .: Suillus flavus ) is an edible mushroom from the family of the smeared boletus relatives .
features
The gold tubular forms fruiting bodies with a central stem and a hat and stem. The hat is hemispherical when young, later pad-shaped to flat convex, finally flat hat is 5-15 cm wide. It is golden to orange-yellow, sometimes orange-brown to rust-brown or lemon-yellow in color. The hat skin is smooth, rarely a little wrinkled, in damp weather it is very slimy, the yellowish mucus can be easily peeled off when it is damp. In dry weather, the surface of the hat is only sticky and the skin of the hat is difficult to remove. The young yellow, somewhat brownish tubes with age have grown or run down a bit on the stem. The pores, which brown on pressure, are bright yellow when young, there are 2–3 pores per mm. The stem can be 4–10 cm long and 0.5–2 cm thick, above the ring zone it is colored like the pores, below it is darker orange to brownish. The pores of young fruiting bodies are covered by a soft, wady velum partiale . The flesh is light yellow to yellow and often turns pink, purple or brownish when cut, some specimens blue a little when cut.
ecology
The gold tubule is a mycorrhizal partner of the larch , it almost always occurs in Central Europe with the European larch , very rare finds are among other larch species, in exceptional cases the gold tubule was also found under Douglas firs . It does not make any special demands on the nature of the soil, only very dry locations and wet bog soils are avoided. The fruiting bodies appear in Central Europe from June to November, less often as early as May.
distribution
The gold bolet occurs in Europe, North Asia ( Siberia ), to Korea and Japan , as well as in North America , Australia and New Zealand . The species is common everywhere in Germany.
meaning
The gold bolet is edible. It is advisable to peel off the skin of the hat cap before use, as it is slimy, especially in damp weather, and diminishes enjoyment.
