history

Company headquarters and headquarters in Seeboden am Millstätter See, Carinthia

The company's history begins in 1947 when the father of the current owner, August Mayer Sr., made quilts with a borrowed sewing machine. [ The company was founded in 1948 elsewhere .] Son Augustin Mayer took over his father's company in 1971, with the invention of a new type of synthetic fiber as a long-term goal. Due to lack of space and a high financial risk, the move was made from Spittal an der Drau to the nearby Seeboden on Lake Millstatt , where Augustin Mayer, at the age of early 20, made duvets and pillow cases with five employees .

The development of a highly efficient synthetic insulation fiber has been the focus of Augustin Mayer since the beginning of his entrepreneurial activity. For this purpose, a separate fleece system was developed directly at the company headquarters in 1982 - this ultimately resulted in the polyester fiber G-LOFT, which was initially processed as a sleeping bag filling , but now forms the core of all the company's products.

In 2018, the company employed a total of around 350 people at three locations - including around 56 in Seeboden . The waterbed brand BluTimes has been part of the Goldeck Textil portfolio since 2010 : The individual manufacture of the waterbeds takes place at the Carinthian headquarters, for which a separate upholstery shop was set up.

Augustin Mayer works - on his own farm - on hemp as the basis for new Goldeck products. In 2017 Augustin Mayer was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Association of the Textile and Clothing Industry. In 2017, Goldeck Textil generated sales of around EUR 43.5 million and in 2018 was ranked 17th among " Austria's Leading Companies " in the "Internationally active companies" category.

Locations

In addition to the company headquarters in Austria, Goldeck Textil has been operating two production sites in Slovakia (Tatra Textil Sro) and one in Moldova (Codreanca Sa) since the 1990s .

Products & brands

G-LOFT

Thermal insulation fiber

The two-component polyester fiber is a development by Goldeck Textil and can be found in all of the company's other products. It was designed as a hollow fiber based on the fur of polar bears and, according to the manufacturer, promises numerous advantages over natural fibers, such as particularly low weight and insensitivity to moisture and compression. Goldeck Textil also offers a special variant of the G-LOFT fleece, which is flame-retardant in accordance with the EN ISO 14116 standard.

Carinthia

Sleeping bags & cold protection clothing

Goldeck Textil has been marketing sleeping bags under the Carinthia label since 1983 and later expanded the G-LOFT-insulated product range to include outdoor and functional clothing . The corporate division for professional customers equips numerous European emergency services such as police, fire brigade and armies - such as the German Bundeswehr - with sleeping bags and special clothing. In 2013, Carinthia alone generated sales of around 15 million euros. With this division, Goldeck Textil is now one of the world's leading manufacturers.

Goldeck Austria

Bedding

The fiber in-house development G-LOFT can also be found in bedding such as pillows , duvets and mattresses from the subsidiary brand Goldeck Austria, which are available in various degrees of warmth and with different outer fabrics and are certified according to " Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex " and are partially allergy-friendly.

BluTimes

Water beds

Goldeck Textil describes its waterbed brand BluTimes as a leader in Europe. Around 15,000 waterbeds are produced in Carinthia each year, with their individual production in Austria and G-LOFT as the filling of the waterbed covers being particularly emphasized.
