Austria's Leading Companies

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Austria's Leading Companies (ALC) is an Austrian business competition that has been held annually by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Kreditschutzverband von 1870 since 1997. The media partner was the now discontinued Wirtschaftsblatt until 2015 , from 2016 Die Presse is the new partner. In three categories for large, medium and small companies, the top 3 companies across Austria and in the federal states are selected. Every Austrian business enterprise is eligible to participate, as is every subsidiary of foreign groups based in the country.

Origin and evaluation criteria

In the first year only about 50 companies took part. The number doubled the following year. As of 2002, the three groups will be assessed separately according to sales.

The companies are divided into three classes according to their turnover, in which they are rated according to various economic criteria.

  • BigPlayer: Determination of the winners in groups with an annual turnover of more than 50 million euros
  • Goldener Mittelbau: Medium-sized companies with an annual turnover between 10 and 50 million euros are assessed.
  • Solid small businesses: The valuation affects all businesses under 10 million euros.

The point system, after it has been assessed, is based on the following economic key figures, whereby the development over three years is assessed not the static figures for one year:

The winners will each be awarded works of art at prominent events.
