The Fuchs Petrolub SE (self spelling: FUCHS PETROLUB SE) is a German group in the petroleum and chemical sector, which is the leading manufacturer and distribution of lubricants has focused. In this context, Fuchs Petrolub is the world's largest independent supplier of lubricants.

history

Company headquarters in Mannheim

The company was founded in Mannheim in 1931 under the name Rudolf Fuchs . The Fuchs family holds the majority of votes with over 50 percent of the ordinary shares. The remaining shares are in free float. The headquarters are in Mannheim on the Friesenheimer Insel .

In 1936 the first foreign branch opened in Munich and the company began manufacturing. During the Second World War (1939–1945) there was an import ban for Pennsylvanian oils and the most important supplier was lost. The move to the industrial port of Mannheim also follows . After the end of the war, there is a new beginning.

In 1951, Fuchs Lubritech for high-performance lubricants was founded . After the death of the company founder Rudolf Fuchs in 1959, his son Manfred Fuchs took over the management. In 1968 the first branches followed in France and Spain. By 1981 the company had developed into a diversified group with 80 production and trading companies.

In 1985 the company went public in Frankfurt and Stuttgart. In 2000, around 4,000 employees generated sales of around EUR 900 million. In 2004, Stefan Fuchs became CEO. By 2006 sales rose to 1.2 billion euros.

Fuchs Petrolub's preferred shares have been listed in the MDAX since June 23, 2008 .

In 2013, the corporation was converted into Fuchs Petrolub SE . By 2015, sales had grown to two billion euros.

In 2017 Manfred Fuchs retired from the Supervisory Board; his successor was his daughter Susanne Fuchs.

Products

With its several thousand lubricants, the company offers products for all areas of life and industries. The customers range from mining and the steel industry to agriculture, from the vehicle industry to the household sector as well as trading in motor oils. The most important regions for the Group in terms of sales are Western Europe, Asia and North America.
