Company history

At the beginning of the group there was a Spar store, which was opened by Michael Leier in 1965. At the same location, a concrete block factory followed in 1970 , which laid the foundation for today's holding company, which the founder built with his sons-in-law Friedrich Ebner and Anton Putz. Although nearby, the Iron Curtain prevented deliveries to Hungary. That is why Leier built another concrete block factory in Gönyű in the small area of Győr . Before the opening of the east in 1985, he built another plant in the northern Polish city of Malbork ( Pomeranian Voivodeship ).

In the 1990s, further business areas (automobile trade, bricks, real estate) were opened up. In February 1996, the Leier son-in-law Anton Putz founded AP-Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH, in which several family members of the Leier, Ebner and Putz families now hold shares and Anton Putz is the managing director. The management company owns 85% of the holding company Leier International GmbH, founded in May 2004, and 10% of the shares are held by the second managing director, Christian Schild.

Leier has been present in Slovakia since 2004, in Romania since 2005 and in Croatia in 2006. The Kaiserstein GesmbH has also been owned since 2008 . to the lyre group. In 2010, Leier bought the three Durisol plants in Austria and Slovakia from Eternit-Werke Ludwig Hatschek AG . In the same year, another brick factory was purchased in Markowicze, Poland. Production began in 2013 in the new precast concrete plant of Leier Hungaria Kft in the city of Győr in Hungary.
