José Gregorio "Gollito" Estredo (born March 25, 1989 in El Yaque ) is a Venezuelan windsurfer and nine-time world champion in the freestyle discipline. He uses the sail number V-10.

Gollito grew up on the Caribbean Isla Margarita and made it into the World Cup at the age of 14 . At 17, he finally became the youngest PWA freestyle world champion in history. In 2011, Philip Köster caught up with him by also becoming world champion at the age of 17.

Life

Gollito grew up in poor circumstances as the son of a fishing family in a cramped hut near a beach. When El Yaque was discovered as a wind-safe surf spot and tourism emerged, Gollito began helping out at the first windsurfing centers at the age of 11. Due to his talent and a very quick perception when learning new maneuvers , he soon attracted attention. So decided the then team manager of North Sails , Beat Steffan to give him a chance and sponsorship to procure.

In 2003, at the age of 14, he finally took part in his first World Cup on Bonaire , where he was eliminated in the first round. After top positions in the following, Gollito was finally able to celebrate his first world title in freestyle in 2006. Many more victories and seven more world championships followed, which made him the most successful windsurfer in freestyle. Gollito is still at the top of the World Cup today and is considered to be one of the riders who shaped and continue to shape freestyle the most.
