Good Old Days is a song by the American rapper Macklemore , which he recorded together with the singer and songwriter Kesha . It was written by Macklemore, Kesha, Budo, Andrew Joslyn , Sam Wishkoski and Tyler Andrews . The lyrics are from Macklemore, Kesha and the Budo production company. The song was originally released on September 19, 2017 as a single to promote Macklemore's second solo studio album, Gemini .

On January 18, 2017, Macklemore posted a photo of himself and Kesha on Instagram , suggesting a collaboration between the two artists. The song then appeared in the track list of his album Gemini , published on August 22, 2017 . Macklemore told Rolling Stone about his collaboration with Kesha: “She (Kesha) is someone I felt a connection with when I walked into the room and we became friends pretty quickly ... She's a musician, she's one Songwriter, she is someone who is not afraid to try new ideas in the studio, she is not afraid of being vulnerable in front of other people and is not afraid to aim for the high grades, ignorant of whether she can achieve them. She's a musician with all her soul and she's a very humorous person. ”He also reported that Ryan Lewis made this collaboration possible in the first place. When asked how he got hold of Kesha, he replied: “Ryan had a rehearsal (orig. Session ) with her in Seattle . She was here again. They finished recording Praying and were working on a couple of other recordings that I don't think made their album. She had taken a day off and I met Ryan and asked him, 'Would you mind if I see Kesha?' and he said, 'Of course not.' Billboard's Caitlin Kelley described Good Old Days as a "mild yet catchy song." Vibe's Mark Braboy praised Macklemore for its “self-reflective rap” and Kesha for giving the song what it was missing with her “heartfelt vocal performance”. MTV News' Madeline Roth wrote that "this nostalgic song is like traveling back in time".
