Goran Vojnović

Goran Vojnović (born June 11, 1980 in Ljubljana , Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian writer , screenwriter and film director .

Life

Vojnović studied directing at the Academy for Theater, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana .

He is a successful film and television director ( Fužine zakon , Sezona 90/91, Moj sin, seksualni manijak) as well as a film and television author ( Good Luck Nedim , Heart of Sarajevo Award, nominated for the European Film Award 2006). His debut novel Cefurji out! , which, like many of his works, deals with the coexistence of Slovenes and immigrants from the former Yugoslav successor states, caused a sensation and Vojnović registered a criminal complaint from the Slovenian deputy police chief.

He lives and works in Ljubljana.

Goran Vojnović received the Kresnik Prize of the Laibacher Zeitung Delo (best novel of the year) for each of his three novels . Out for Čefurji! he was also awarded the highest Slovenian literary prize, the Prešeren Prize.
