Klaus Detlef Olof
Klaus Detlef Olof (born November 6, 1939 in Oebisfelde ) is a German translator.
Life
Olof spent his childhood and youth in Lübeck and Hildesheim . He studied Slavic Studies in Hamburg and Sarajevo . Until 2005 he taught at the universities of Klagenfurt , Graz and Vienna . He currently lives and works in Zagreb and Pula .

Klaus Detlef Olof has translated numerous books from the South Slavic literatures ( Bosnian , Bulgarian , Croatian , Macedonian , Serbian and Slovenian ). The authors he has translated include a. France Prešeren , Miroslav Krleža , Miljenko Jergović , Zoran Ferić , Dževad Karahasan , Dragan Velikić , Drago Jančar , Andrej Blatnik and Milan Dekleva .
Awards
In 1991 he received the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translators .
