Andrej Blatnik (born May 22, 1963 ) is a Slovenian  writerjournalist  and  university lecturer

Life

Blatnik studied American literature at the University of Ljubljana . Blatnik first played as a bass player in a punk band ; at the age of 20 he published his first volume of short stories ( Šopki za Adama venijo ), for which he received the 1984 Zlata ptica award. Today he works as a publishing editor at the renowned Laibach publishing house Cankarjeva založba and teaches creative writing . From 2007 to 2015 he was chairman of the jury for the international Vilenica literary award. Two novels, three volumes of short stories, numerous pieces for radio and essays have been published so far. His short stories have so far been translated into around 30 languages; over 25 books appeared in countries other than Slovenia. He translated works by Anaïs Nin , Stephen King , Sylvia Plath and Paul Bowles from American English into Slovenian .

He is considered one of the most famous Slovenian writers of the younger generation.
