Gordon E. Venner

Gordon E. Venner (born January 27, 1958 in Edmonton ) is a Canadian official in the Department of Defense and former ambassador .

Life

Gordon E. Venner is the son of Marilyn Joyce and Thomas Stanley Venner. On June 18, 1988 he married Lindsay Belch and their son is John Lindsav. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1979 and his Masters from the London School of Economics in 1982 .

He joined the foreign service in 1989. From 1996 to 2000 he was Counselor at the Representation of Canada to the European Union in Brussels. On November 22, 2004 he was appointed ambassador to Tehran , where he was accredited on March 26, 2005. On May 19, 2006, reported the National Post , that a draft law, which in the Majlis was introduced IMPOSED: that Christians red emblem Jews to sew a yellow strip of cloth on their clothes and followers of Zoroastrianism had to wear blue clothing. The law sanctioned an Islamic dress code. The National Post apologized for the hoax. Gordon E. Venner was appointed to the Persian Foreign Ministry.

In 2008 he headed the Middle East and North Africa department. From May 5th to 8th, 2014 he participated in the G7 Foreign Affairs Sous-Sherpas' Meeting (FASS). On June 25, 2014, he was a ministerial advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui. In July 2014, he moved to the Department of National Defense .
