The Gorouol is a temporary water-bearing river in Burkina Faso and Niger .
course
It rises in northern Burkina Faso, southeast of Déou and flows eastwards along the Saouga dune. At Falagountou the Féléol flows into the Gorouol. Then the river turns north to the mouth of the Béli near Yatakala . There it changes its direction to the east again until it flows into the Niger about 50 km later near the city of Ayorou in Niger .
Its catchment area is given differently with 54,050 and 44,850 km². The villages of Saouga and Bidi are on the Gorouol .
Hydrometry
Average monthly flow of the Gorouol measured at the hydrological station near Alcongui, about 30 km above the mouth in m³ / s.
Naming
Gorouol is a Fulfulde word that means "watercourse". Another name of the river is Youmbam .
In some sources the Béli is also referred to as the main river and the Gorouol as its tributary.
