Gottfried August Pietzsch

Gottfried August Pietzsch (born October 8, 1759 in Schkeuditz , † February 8, 1840 in Naumburg ) was a German clergyman, educator and writer.

Life

Gottfried August Pietzsch attended school in Merseburg and began studying theology at Leipzig University in 1780 . In 1784 he passed his theological exam in Dresden and then became tutor of the Saxon major of the cavalry Ludwig Wilhelm von Rex in Freyburg . In 1789 he was elected deacon in Freyburg and pastor in Zscheiplitz .

In 1802 he opened a school in Naumburg and ran it alongside his clerical offices.

In 1808 he resigned his offices as a clergyman for health reasons.

In 1830 he opened a Sunday school , where he taught free of charge and paid a teacher. The Sunday School was attended by 93 students, including apprentices and journeymen.

He was also active as a writer and worked, among other things, on the “New Nekrolog der Deutschen”.

In 1789 he married and had four children, but only his son, who lived with his death Regierungsrat in Erfurt was.
