Gottfried Balthasar Scharff

Gottfried Balthasar Scharff (born March 19, 1676 in Liegnitz , † August 9, 1744 in Schweidnitz ) was a Lutheran theologian, song poet and writer of edification.

Live and act

After attending the city school in Liegnitz and the Elisabethanum grammar school in Breslau , he studied theology in Leipzig and Wittenberg , became a master's degree in 1699, pastor in Gölschau in Silesia in 1700 , first deacon in the Protestant Church of Peace in Schweidnitz, which was established after the peace treaty in Altranstädt in 1708, and pastor in 1737 primarius as the successor to the late Benjamin Schmolck . After the Prussian conquest of Silesia in 1742, he became church and school inspector for the Principality of Münsterberg and the Schweidnitzer Kreis.
