Gottfried Boesch

Gottfried Boesch (born April 6, 1915 in Buttisholz ; † April 18, 1983 at Heidegg Castle ) was a Swiss historian .

Life

Gottfried Boesch studied at the Universities of Zurich and Freiburg i.Üe. History. Between 1945 and 1967 he taught history and German at the Lucerne Cantonal School . In addition, he headed the Historical Museum in Lucerne and became a curator at Heidegg Castle in 1951. In 1967 he was appointed to the University of Friborg, where he took over the chair for Swiss history. Gottfried Boesch was President of the Historical Association of the Five Places and the General History Research Society of Switzerland (AGGS). He wrote a large number of publications on legal and constitutional history, on Swiss and Lucerne history and played a key role in the creation of the “Acta Helvetica” edition of the Zurlauben Collection .

The estate of Gottfried Boesch is located in the State Archives of Aargau .
