Gottfried Feurstein

Gottfried Feurstein (born March 7, 1939 in Andelsbuch ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Feurstein was a member of the National Council between 1975 and 2002 and chairman of the Vorarlberg ÖVP senior citizens' union until 2016 .

education and profession

Feurstein attended elementary school in Andelsbuch between 1945 and 1949 and then the secondary school in Bezau . In 1953 he moved to the commercial school in Bregenz , in 1954 to the Federal Commercial Academy and Federal Commercial School in Bregenz , where he passed the Matura in 1958. Feurstein studied economics at the University of Innsbruck from 1958 to 1963 and obtained the academic degree Dr. rer. oec. In 1964 he did military service.

Between 1961 and 1963, Gottfried Feurstein was a research assistant at the Institute for Economics at the University of Innsbruck and from 1963 a state official in the office of the Vorarlberg state government . From 1967 he headed the State Office for Statistics. He was re-elected as chairman of the Vorarlberg Pensioners' Association (ÖVP) in April 2012; Werner Huber succeeded him in this position in March 2016 .

Feurstein was councilor in Andelsbuch from 1965 and between 1970 and 1985 managing director of the regional planning association Bregenzerwald. Between November 4, 1975 and December 19, 2002, he represented the ÖVP in the National Council and was deputy chairman of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs.
