Gottfried Georgi

Gottfried Georgi (born August 10, 1731 in Wachholzhagen , † February 1801 in Stargard in Pomerania ) was a German local lawyer. From 1784 until his death he was Lord Mayor of Stargard in Pomerania.

His father Johann Georgi (* 1702; † 1783) was a Protestant clergyman; he was active as an adjunct in Wachholzhagen from 1727 and in 1758 became pastor and prepositive in Kolbatz .

Gottfried Georgi attended the Joachimsthal High School and then studied law at the University of Halle . In 1755 he became legal advisor in the office of Ferdinandshof. In 1762 he changed to the position of mayor of justice in Greifenhagen .

In 1769 he became director of justice and (second) mayor in Stargard. Here he was elected in 1784 to the municipal district administrator and mayor ("conducting mayor"). He remained in office until his death in 1801. His successor in office was Johann Daniel Wutsdorff .

Gottfried Georgi had several children. His son Johann Friedrich August Georgi was first professor at the Collegium Groeningianum in Stargard from 1787 and then from 1791 pastor in Kollin and Strebelow.
