Gottfried Hientzsch

Johann Gottfried Hientzsch (born August 25, 1787 in Mockrehna , † July 1, 1856 in Berlin ) was a German music teacher .

Life

Hientzsch completed his studies in Leipzig . He then worked as a teacher in Switzerland for several years . From 1817 Hientzsch worked as a seminar music teacher in Neuzelle , from 1822 as seminar director in Breslau and from 1833 to 1849 in this position in Potsdam . From 1849 to 1854 he held the position of director of the Berlin Institute for the Blind . Hientzsch was a follower of the teachings of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi .

From 1828 to 1837 he worked part-time as an editor of the music education magazine "Eutonia". He was also the publisher of the music newspaper “Das musical Germany”. He was the editor of hymn collections for school use, but also z. B. the covenant song " Brothers reach out to the covenant ".
