Gottfried Hoby

Gottfried Hoby (born April 25, 1915 in Flums ; † October 4, 2005 there ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

The lawyer Gottfried Hoby was elected to the St. Gallen canton parliament in 1948 . From 1951 to 1957 he was President of the State Economic Commission and from 1957 to 1958 President of the Cantonal Parliament.

From 1960 to 1980 Hoby was a member of the St. Gallen cantonal government as head of the sanitary and justice department. Under his leadership of the Sanitary Department, the St. Gallen hospital system was expanded, training centers for professions in the health sector were established and preventive medicine was established.

From the 1960s onwards, Hoby was on the boards of the Swiss Medical Directors Conference and the intercantonal control body for medicinal products, now Swissmedic .

He was Landammann three times :

  • July 1, 1963 to June 30, 1964
  • July 1, 1970 to June 30, 1971
  • July 1, 1977 to June 30, 1978

In 1982 Hoby was appointed a member of the Board of Directors and the Central Committee of the Swiss Red Cross .
