Gottfried Landeck (* 1740 in Militsch , Jauer district , Silesia; † November 5, 1821 in Gramenz , Pomerania province ) was a Prussian hussar in the regiment of Wilhelm Sebastian von Belling .

life and career

Landeck became known through the capture of the young ensign Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, who was still in Swedish cavalry service at the time, on August 29, 1760 near Kavelpass (cable pass) not far from the Mecklenburg-Prussian border. Landeck took the young Blücher to the regimental commander von Belling, who persuaded him to join the Prussian army .

Landeck earned the medal of merit in the field and in 1798 became an economic inspector in Pomerania. To his astonishment, 54 years after Blucher was captured - and on the use of his former prisoner - he received a monthly pension of six talers.
